As women, we have a lot more area to shave than the average man – so why are our razors so much less effective? I’ve always preferred men’s razors because I felt like they gave a closer shave, and usually cost less than the ones marketed towards women (hello Pink Tax).
Then came the Billie Razor.
If you’ve been on Instagram, it’s likely that you’ve seen stories about Billie. It’s won countless awards including Allure Best of Beauty, Nylon’s Beauty Hit List, and Bustle’s Most Wanted Life Upgrade and every influencer seemed to have it. I bought it because it claimed to give a closer shave, without the nicking, for a really good price. So I wanted to put the razor to the test and see if it lived up to the hype.
When you go to their website and you’re ordering a Razor Starter Kit that includes (1) razor, (2) razor heads (1) magnetic holder for $9 dollars. You get to pick which color razor you want, I obviously chose the blush, but they have four other options, and then you’ll select how often you shave. The option you choose dictates how often they will send you your 4 razor head replacements. For example, if you shave everyday, they’ll send you replacements every month, or if you shave a few times a week, it’ll be every two months. The best thing about Billie is this refill subscription service. I’ve always been terrible about going out to buy new razor heads, but now I always have plenty on hand and I never have to worry about shaving with a dull razor.
I found that for the most part, Billie lives up to its reputation. I get a very close shave every time and it does leave my skin feeling smoother. I will say, that I have gotten nicked from it, so it’s not cut-proof, but it doesn’t happen as often as it would with my previous razors.
I also bought the shaving cream that Billie offers for an additional $8 because I’d seen that people raved about it. I did not like it at all. In my opinion it was way too thick and didn’t lather up enough. When I would try to shave using it, I felt like I was just collecting the cream and couldn’t get through to the actual hair.
Overall, I would highly recommend a Billie Razor to anyone. It’s a razor that isn’t expensive, will last a long time and does exactly what it promises to do.
